Buttock Enhancement Gluteoplasty

Brazilian Butt Lift

What is a Buttock Enhancement Gluteoplasty?

Gluteoplasty with your own fat (more famously known as the Brazilian Butt Lift or BBL), is a surgical technique that involves transferring fat from areas of the body where there is excess, such as the belly or thighs, to the buttocks.

The objective is to remodel and increase the buttocks in a more natural way, without resorting to artificial materials (such as silicone), simultaneously managing to remove excess fat in another region of the body.

How is gluteal enlargement done with fat?

The fat gluteoplasty procedure is performed in 3 stages:

  1. Fat is carefully removed through liposuction in pre-determined areas where there is excess adipose tissue;
  2. The fat is then processed and purified to ensure the survival of healthier fat cells;
  3. Finally, the fat is strategically reinserted into the buttocks using advanced fat grafting techniques.

What do scars look like after the gluteoplasty?

Scars after a buttock enhancement gluteoplasty are usually minimal and discreet. This is because the surgery is performed using very small incisions and thin cannulas for liposuction and fat injection into the buttocks.

The incisions are strategically made to minimize the visibility of scars.

Over time, scars tend to become more and more discrete.

The scar on the buttocks is located in the groove between the buttocks, meaning it will be practically unnoticeable.

Risks of fat rejection

As it is the patient’s own fat, the risk of rejection is minimal. This is a safe intervention that offers natural and lasting results.

How long do the results last?

The duration of results from a buttock enhancement gluteoplasty will vary from person to person. Several factors can influence the longevity of results, including the quality of the fat graft, the patient’s lifestyle and genetics.

Normally the results last for many years (or are even permanent), but it is important to understand that some grafted fat will be naturally absorbed by the body during the months following the surgery, so some patients may notice a slight gradual decrease in the volume of their muscle glutes.

It is essential to discuss your expectations and goals with your plastic surgeon during your initial consultation.

Post-operative gluteoplasty

As with any surgery, it is normal to feel a little sore after a gluteoplasty. You may experience some swelling and bruising during the first few days and have reduced mobility.

For a faster recovery, you should carefully follow the doctor’s recommendations, who will tell you about the necessary rest time, compression belt, medication and all the precautions you need to take.

Who is the ideal candidate?

It is important to note that not all patients are ideal candidates for this procedure, as the amount of fat available for grafting and the quality of the patient’s skin play a crucial role in the results. You will need to schedule an evaluation consultation with Living Clinic’s plastic surgeon to analyse your particular case.

What other procedures are there for buttock enlargement?

In addition to the gluteoplasty with fat, there are other ways to increase the volume of the buttocks, including gluteoplasty with a prosthesis (silicone implant) or buttock enhancement with hyaluronic acid.
