Breast Augmentation Before and After

Breast augmentation with silicone implants

This page shows real Before and After photos of a breast augmentation (with silicone) performed by a patient at the Living Clinic, by Dr. Francisco Martins de Carvalho.

What does breast augmentation consist of?

Breast augmentation or augmentation is the name given to breast surgery which aims to increase the volume of the breast and improve its shape by placing breast implants, i.e. silicone prostheses.

How does it work?

Breast augmentation is a surgical technique that consists of implanting a breast prosthesis under the mammary gland or under the pectoral muscle fascia. The surgeon decides on the most suitable implantation site, taking into account the anatomy and volume of the existing breast.

To do this, a small incision is made in the breast areola or in the fold under the breast or in the armpit crease.

Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia and lasts up to 1 hour. In most cases, breast augmentation is performed on an outpatient basis, after which the patient is monitored and given analgesia for a maximum of 8 hours.

Each clinical case has its own specific characteristics. The technique that best suits each case and meets the patient’s expectations will be selected.
