Table of Contents

Gynecomastia is a condition in which male breast enlargement occurs.

Male breast correction surgery consists of excision of the breast that is in excess, usually through liposuction or through a scar at the bottom of the areola.

In the postoperative period, the use of a compressive band is essential. Lymphatic drainage is also recommended.

The results are very good both in cases of liposuction and in cases of removal of breast tissue.

Approximately 2 hours.

Surgery can be done under general or local anesthesia depending on the patient’s tolerance.

Recovery takes 2 weeks at the end of which social and professional activity can be resumed. During the month following the surgery use of a compression band day and night is recommended.

The peri-areolar scar becomes imperceptible after 1 month.

After 1 month, intense activity can be resumed. During this first month the elastic band should be worn and lymphatic drainage performed as soon as the patient tolerates it.

In this type of surgery, the appearance of bruises or swelling is frequent after surgery. For that reason the immediate use of elastic compression of the treated area is mandatory and  should remain for 1 month post-op. Aspiration drains used can be removed on the 2nd postoperative day, at which time lymphatic drainage massage can begin and which should last as long as necessary for the total restoration of the area.

4 days after surgery, the patient can restart social and working life. Physical exercise and other similar efforts only after 1 month.
