Treatments for Scars
At Living Clinic, we offer treatments to help remove or reduce the appearance of various types of scars. Depending on the type of scar, we may recommend treatments such as:
Scar removal with Laser
Fractional CO2 Laser is a procedure that uses carbon dioxide (CO2) laser technology for skin treatments. This laser emits beams of light that remove microscopic layers of skin in targeted areas.
The production of new collagen helps to smooth out scars, improve skin texture, and reduce their appearance. This laser treatment is effective for acne scars, surgical scars, and scars from other causes.
Scar Removal with Morpheus8
Morpheus8 is an innovative treatment that combines radiofrequency with microneedling. It penetrates the skin with microneedles while simultaneously emitting radiofrequency energy to heat the deeper layers of the skin. This combination accelerates collagen and elastin production, resulting in firmer, smoother skin with significantly less visible scarring.
Morpheus8 is especially successful in treating acne scars and other types of scarring.
Minor Scar Subcision Surgery (under local anesthesia)
Subcision is a medical or surgical procedure performed in dermatology and plastic surgery to treat depressed scars, particularly acne scars, as well as skin depressions caused by other factors.
In this procedure, the dermatologist or plastic surgeon makes a small incision near the depressed scar in order to insert a fine needle or cannula under the skin. The goal is to break up or release the collagen fibers that are pulling the scar downward.
As new collagen forms in the treated area, the skin lifts and the depressed scar becomes less visible.
This treatment is also used in certain severe cases of cellulite.
Note: A specialized dermatological evaluation will always be carried out so that we can recommend the most suitable solution for your specific case (which may be one of the treatments mentioned above or another recommended by the doctor).
What is the price of scar treatments?
There will always be a prior evaluation so that the doctor can recommend the most appropriate scar treatment for your specific case, along with the corresponding price.
Prices may vary depending on the type of treatment, type of scar and complexity.

About Scars
What are scars?
Scars are permanent marks on the skin that result from the healing process after an injury. They form when the body produces collagen to repair the affected area, creating tissue that is different from the original skin.
It is completely normal to feel self-conscious about the appearance of your scars, and this may affect your self-esteem.
There are different types of scars, including hypertrophic scars, keloids, atrophic scars, acne scars, surgical scars, among others.
What are the main causes of scars?
Scars may result from:
Injuries
Burns
Surgeries
Pre-existing skin conditions
Types of Scars
Keloids
Keloids are scars that result from an excessive growth of fibrous tissue, creating a raised and thick appearance. This excess scar tissue extends beyond the boundaries of the original injury and can take on a tumor-like look.
Keloids usually have a brownish or reddish color and may appear months or even years after the injury.
In some cases, these scars can cause pain and intense itching, in addition to aesthetic concerns.
Hypertrophic Scars
Hypertrophic scars are also raised, but they differ from keloids because they remain within the boundaries of the original wound. They are usually not as thick or elevated as keloids.
This type of scar typically appears a few weeks after the injury and may naturally fade over time.
Hypertrophic scars often have a reddish or pinkish tone.
Atrophic Scars
Atrophic scars are the opposite of keloid and hypertrophic scars. They are characterized by a depression in the skin.
They occur when there is a loss of tissue in the affected area, leading to a sunken and uneven appearance.
Acne scars are commonly atrophic, although not always. In some cases, acne can also result in hypertrophic or raised scars.
Normotrophic Scars
When the healing process occurs “normally,” it often results in normotrophic scars—scars without noticeable elevation or depression in the skin. These are characterized by an appearance and texture very similar to the skin before the injury.
They are smooth, flat, and skin-colored scars, and therefore much less visible.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can all types of scars be treated?
Not all scars can be completely removed, but most can be improved with the right treatments. Atrophic, hypertrophic, and keloid scars respond differently to treatment, so it is important to schedule an evaluation appointment to determine the best approach.
Is it possible to completely remove a scar?
Scars usually cannot be completely eliminated, but their appearance can be significantly reduced. The treatments mentioned can help smooth them out and even out the skin tone.
When is the ideal time to start scar treatment?
Treatment should begin once the scar is fully healed and the skin shows no signs of inflammation or infection. This usually happens a few weeks after the injury or surgery. Starting early helps achieve better results.
Are there any risks or side effects in scar treatments?
Some treatments may cause temporary irritation and redness or, in rare cases, changes in skin pigmentation. It is essential to have the procedures done by qualified professionals to minimize side effects.
