What is the Vascular Laser (Fotona)?

The Fotona Vascular Laser is an innovative and effective technology for treating vascular lesions such as spider veins/telangiectasias, rosacea, superficial varicose veins, and hemangiomas. It utilizes specific wavelengths absorbed by blood vessels, promoting their selective coagulation and subsequent reabsorption by the body, without damaging surrounding tissues.

What is it used for?

This treatment aims to reduce and eliminate vascular imperfections on the skin, providing a more uniform tone and rejuvenated appearance. It is especially indicated for:

  • Telangiectasias (facial and body spider veins);

  • Rosacea;

  • Erythrosis (reddish skin coloration due to vascular congestion);

  • Superficial varicose veins and microvaricose veins;

  • Hemangiomas (abnormal accumulation of blood vessels);

  • Cherry angiomas (small red spots on the skin);

  • Reticular veins.

How does it work?

The Fotona Vascular Laser uses Nd:YAG 1064 nm technology, emitting a highly targeted light beam to the blood vessels. This light is absorbed by hemoglobin, generating heat and promoting the selective coagulation of the vessels without damaging surrounding tissues. Over time, the body reabsorbs these treated vessels, restoring the skin to a more uniform and healthy tone.

The penetration depth of the Nd:YAG 1064 nm makes this laser ideal for treating deeper and more resistant vessels, such as facial and body telangiectasias, superficial varicose veins, and other vascular lesions.

The procedure is safe, minimally invasive, and offers effective results, often visible after the first sessions.

Application Areas

The Vascular Laser can be applied to various body areas, including:

  • Face (rosacea, telangiectasias, erythrosis)

  • Legs (microvaricose veins and reticular veins)

  • Lips (venous lake)

  • Décolleté and neck (vascular spots)

  • Hands (dilated vessels)

  • Other regions with the presence of angiomas or hemangiomas.

Recovery and Care

The Fotona Vascular Laser treatment is minimally invasive and does not require prolonged recovery time. However, some care is essential to ensure the best results:

  • Avoid direct sun exposure on treated areas for at least 15 days, always using high SPF sunscreen

  • Apply moisturizing and soothing creams recommended by the doctor to aid skin recovery

  • Do not manipulate or rub the treated area for the first 48 hours

  • Avoid very hot baths and intense physical activities for the first 24 to 48 hours

  • Follow all medical recommendations to ensure a quick and effective recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Vascular Laser treatments performed at Living Clinic are safe, minimally invasive, and carried out by qualified specialists (specialist in Vascular Surgery and Angiology). The risk of complications is very low. In rare cases, small bruises, temporary scabs, hyperpigmentation, or hypopigmentation may appear in the treated area. Following medical recommendations, such as avoiding direct sun exposure and applying indicated products, helps minimize any risk.

In most cases, side effects are minimal and temporary, including redness, slight swelling, and a warm sensation in the treated area. In rare cases, as mentioned earlier, small scabs or temporary changes in skin pigmentation may occur.

Discomfort is minimal and comparable to small skin pricks. Most patients tolerate the procedure well, especially due to the integrated cooling technology in the laser, which helps reduce the heat sensation during application.

In most cases, anesthesia is not necessary. However, for more sensitive patients, a topical anesthetic cream can be applied before the procedure for greater comfort.

Sclerotherapy involves injecting a sclerosing agent directly into the vessels, while the laser uses light energy to coagulate blood vessels. The laser is a less invasive option and more suitable for smaller and superficial vessels.

Vascular surgery is an invasive procedure to treat larger and deeper veins, while vascular laser is a non-invasive treatment, ideal for smaller and superficial vessels.

The best way to determine the appropriate treatment is through a personalized evaluation at Living Clinic. During the consultation, the doctor will analyze the characteristics of your blood vessels and recommend the most effective procedure for your particular case.

What is the price of Fotona Vascular Laser treatments?
